Red Line Projects > Dead Sea Sinkholes

Doron Gazit draws the Red Line to serve as a metaphor for a blood vein of Mother Earth by means of nature as his canvas. By laying the Red Line on the Dead Sea’s disastrous zones, Gazit humanizes Earth as a living and vibrant body that is now dying. Gazit draws the Red Line not with a pencil, but with a self-contained, 3-dimensional line over damaged typography to bring attention to the tragedy of sink holes and cracked ground. Importantly, the sinkholes are a very unique and dramatic natural phenomenon that represents and symbolizes more than anything else the disasters and destruction that occur in many parts of the world due to global warming and human misuse. Interestingly, the sinkholes resemble a scorched earth similar to the surface of the moon, representing a very dramatic background for the Red Line.
